Shiny and new

Craft, Photography

A lot has happened since my last post… way back before Christmas last year. In short, I’ve finished up my year’s internship in Samoa and have returned home for an extended break because there was a very real need to spend quality time with my family while making sure the rest of the plan is falling into place.

There is much to say about my time in Samoa, so I’ll keep that for a separate post.

No job is too small

Craft, Photography, Tangent

Some people think working with family is a bad idea. Maybe those people pick the wrong family to work with. Working with AL and Dzal hasn’t been the best in terms of pay or stability but it has been some kinda fun!

Admittedly I don’t do a hell of a lot. We do a lot of print work,┬ámostly publications and graphics, with the odd cool random thing thrown in, and that keeps Dzal really busy since he’s the graphics dude. But every now and then we get some jobs where I can do some photography or scripting or something else that I’ve been able to get into. And more rarely we get a lovely artsy-craftsy project that gets us all going.

God save the Queen

Food, Photography, Tangent

The Queen’s B’day long weekend is the last long weekend in Fiji until Independence Day in October. Which sucks seeing as we’ve averaged at least one public holiday a month since January. It is also a pretty rare thing for the-four-of-us-who-live-together to spend a weekend together actually doing something.

But a day at the beach is not something to be missed. Especially when the weather was as good as it was this weekend. Sunny skies, few wispy clouds, hot sun, and a cool breeze. Makes for the best beach conditions.
