Well so much for those promises.
First things first, I didn’t get that internship. Got through the interviews and up to the point where they were checking my references, and then all quite on the front. Oh well. Onwards and upwards, I guess.
I couldn’t believe that it’s been almost a month-to-the-day since I last posted. It just goes to show how easily things like this can get away from you. I kept telling myself “yeah, yeah, I’ll post something tonight” and then just never did. Then I actually started making excuses (to myself!!) about why I couldn’t post anything that day. At that point you really know you’ve hit a brick wall. A brick wall with steel reinforcement, no less.
And so here I am. Back in the wobbly seat of bloggerville central and trying to eloquently chronicle my adventures.
But before that, and just to make this more worth your while, let me share a blog that has taken up a major percentage of my online time. And by major, I mean it’s damn-near all I do now.
Enter Smitten Kitchen. It. Is. Awesome. For anyone who loves food blogs and all-you-can-eat photography, this blog ticks all the boxes. I was taken in by the photography, then by the recipes, and finally by the promise of the Book. But most of all, she’s a bloody fun writer. Every recipe is more about the story than it is about the food, more about her family adventures than about techniques, and more about the excitement over amazing produce than about the act of cooking. And also a lot about her (ridiculously) tiny kitchen.
Frankly, if her book is as good as (or even better than) the blog, for sure it’s going to enjoy pride of place in my home right next to my copy of Modernist Cuisine.
